Storage Tips

Here are a few storage tips to help get you started.

  1. Plan your storage space. What size of a storage unit will you need for ALL of your items? See page or download our storage information pamphlet.
  2. Place items that you might need to access quickly or often towards the front of the storage unit.
  3. Do not store flammable or combustible items in the storage unit. Storage of such items creates a fire hazard.
  4. Pack boxes completely, heaviest items on the bottom and lighter items on top.
  5. Pack boxes light enough for you to carry. Lifting a heavy box could cause bodily injury.
  6. Try to use boxes that are of a uniform size. This makes stacking boxes easier.
  7. Keep an inventory of your stored items.
  8. Pack similar items together and label the boxes. This helps for easy location of an item.
  9. Label pictures, mirrors, and other glassware as “Fragile”.
  10. Leave a small space between the wall and your storage items to allow for ventilation.
  11. Leave space for walking between your storage items. Avoid climbing over items.
  12. Pay storage fees on time. Not doing so will result in additional fees. For information on fees, contact any of our seven locations.
